The Little Truck That Can! – Part 4

Moving the Truck

Cindy and I got in the car and drove over to my clients house, which is only a few miles away. We pull up, parked in the half circular driveway, and Andre from Dynamics Towing is there with his flatbed waiting for us.

Andre and I walk to the back of the house (Cindy waited in the car with the A/C running). We’re both looking at the driveway and realizing there is no way his truck is going to make it back to the food truck. There were trees, and the driveway was way to narrow.

Neither of us said anything, yet.  When Andre gets to the truck, takes a look and says, wow this is so cool, but I don’t think I can get back here to pull it out. We need to get it to the street. I said, that’s what I figured, whats the solution. He said he had a diesel truck he could get, pull the food truck out, go back and get the flatbed and move it to the mechanic. I said, let’s do it! Whatever it costs. I could tell he wasn’t keen on that idea, due to the time factor. He then looks at me and says, will it start? I start laughing, and say you gotta be kidding me…………He says, what the hell, these motors (the truck is a converted old mail truck from 1971) are work horses, that why the post office uses them. I said ok, lets try it. Of course thinking in my mind, this is a huge waste of time………lol.

Andre get’s the battery charger out of his truck, hooks it up to the food truck, says, pump the gas and turn her on. I do, it’s clicking, but not turning over. He said keep pumping the gas as it hasn’t reached the engine yet and turn it on. HOLY SHIT!!!!!! IT STARTED!!!!!!

Andre said, put it in gear and drive it out. I did. As I came around the front, I start waving at Cindy. She has her eyes wide open with a big smile on her face. We were both very excited. I pulled it out to the street……..oh no, the brakes don’t work…..lol lol. I got it stopped and parked it.  Andre started loading it on the flatbed to move to  Ramsower’s Automotive.

I get back in the car, very excited about the truck starting. Cindy, also very excited, looks at me and says, you just need to do it Craig, you just never know!!!! I got her point…..lol

Off to Ramsower’s Automotive for the evaluation on what needs to be done.  Fingers crossed!
