The Little Truck That Can! – Part 3

Back home in Tucson

We returned home to Tucson right after Memorial Day. I went over to my clients house to take a look at the truck and clean it out. It was nasty. It has been sitting in this location for at least 5 years, and for at least 5 or more at the other location. All 4 tires were flat. The back was filled with old carpet that had become nests for the pack rats. Pack rat poop and other junk all over the place. I opened the hood to the engine and there was a huge pack rat nest on top of the engine itself. It was pretty gnarly. A friend and I cleaned it out, found a bunch of old plastic toys that were sold from the truck, and felt much better about the prospects of the truck. Thank goodness Cindy did not see the truck before it was cleaned out…………lol

A few days go by. Cindy and I were enjoying the down time, going to movie matinees, and sitting by the pool. Finally on a Sunday, Cindy says, “we need to get moving on this truck, I want you to take me over to take a look and see what our next move is.”  We went over on Monday and took a look. We took measurements, photo’s, and talked about options. Now at this point, me, being who I’am, I’m thinking were going to go home, sit by the pool and discuss further. That’s not what Cindy had in mind.   Cindy got in the car and said, lets go find a mechanic. Really??  I said lets check out the place that’s right behind my best friends new house which is only a couple miles from our house. We went.

We arrived at the mechanic shop, Ramsower’s Automotive.   We noticed he had all kinds of vehicles on the lot including classic cars and trucks. We went into the office. In the waiting area the owner, Jack had a bunch of old items displayed……rusty gold, for those of you who are familiar with American Pickers. I was intrigued.

Jack came out, we explained what we had in mind, showed him the photo’s and told him that if this is going to be a money pit, we would rather back off and look in to other options. He loved it. The fact that it was a vintage truck got him excited. These are the type of vehicles he has a passion for working on.   He said this one is very unique. Jack told us the first thing was that he needed to get the truck over to the shop to look over the mechanics. Engine, transmission….etc.  I asked him to recommend someone. I told him I’m pretty sure there was no way a flat bed could get at the truck due to where it was located at my clients home. He said, don’t worry, call this guy, Andre from Dynamics Towing.  We left.

Again, I’m figuring, Cindy and I are going home to sit by the pool and discuss further……my better half had something else in mind. lol.

As soon as we get in the car leaving the mechanics shop, Cindy says, “call the guy to get the truck moved”………….really? lol     As soon as I got home I called Andre, figuring we would set an appointment later that week to have the truck moved. He said he could do it now. I gave him the address and said I would be there in 15 minutes.

Tune in next week to hear about our surprising findings when moving the truck!
